" Paul Turner is locally notorious for bringing art cinema to Corvallis, opening the Avalon Cinema in 1997, and adding four more screens in 2005 at the Darkside Cinema. Over the past decade Paul has developed a readership of more than 3,000 for his weekly emails, writing about a subjects as widely varied as motorcycling, the local economy, a behind-the-scenes look at the movie theater business, compassion for the mentally ill in our community, and even his mother's word for "penis." By playing international and independent films, Paul has drawn as diverse an audience as can be had in Corvallis, from the bikers to the Hindi speaking Bollywood lovers, to the LOLs and the HP- types. And Paul doesn't discriminate: he makes fun of them all."
