Chaganty Gopalakrishna Murthy
(1926-1994) was born to Chaganty Seshaya (pronounced as Sesh-aiah). He started his career as a lecturer at the then renowned Presidency College in Madras, India. He continued on as the Principal of Rajahmundry Government Arts College. He then moved on as Head of The Department for Telugu Language at Andhra University. He served as the committee member on Telugu Curriculum for his tenureship at the University. He also served in a special position as the Language Expert with the government of India: 1964-1966.

His significant contribution to Telugu language came in the form of Hemamali – Padhya Kavyam (poetic work) –  a work that describes the precursor to Kalidasa’s Sanskrit Epci Megha Sandesham. This is a story of the inspiration and reasoning behind the epic Sanskrit work by Kalidasa. This text is prescribed and used in post graduate, undergraduate collegiate curricula in poetry.
