Brandon McIntosh is a Seattle based music composer and performer. His primary instrument is Sarod. He began his musings in Indian music while working on a degree in percussion at Central Washington University. Upon receiving his degree, he moved to Kolkata, India to study Sarod with Pandit Buddhadeb Dasgupta. In 2005 he completed a Masters degree in music composition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During the past six years, his compositions have been performed in India, Ireland, Belgium and the United States. His honors include the Farrell Scholarship and the Departmental Honors Award in Music from Central Washington University, as well as two awards from University of Wisconsin-Madison: the FLAS Fellowship in Bengali of the Center for South Asian Studies and the Benward Grant of the School of Music. His works have been commissioned and performed by: EAR Ensemble, Ireland; Eugene Composers Collective, Oregon; and, the Wisconsin Film Festival, Madison.
